Stress: Introduction
Stress is a common feature in the lifestyles of most Americans. The faces of stress range from burnt toast and crying kids, to the pressures of academics or family relationships. Not only is it impossible to eliminate all stress from your life, sometimes you don't even want to. Some stress can be pleasant, beneficial and even curative. Though most-often considered bad, stress is also responsible for many of the good things in life. An intense kiss, a game of tennis, and productive work, each owes part of its distinctive pleasure to stress. However, too much stress, even of a good type, can cause problems.
Stress is cumulative. It is the sum of all stresses in your life that can cause wear and tear in the machinery of the body and the mind.
