While some people try to achieve low levels of body fat for particular reasons (athletics, social pressure, etc.), extremely low body fat may not be healthy. On the other hand, too much body fat may lead to disease. The chart above represents one method of categorizing acceptable body fat ranges. Though body fat testing may give us an estimate of fat levels, any given measurement is prone to error. Therefore, you should set your goals for somewhere within an acceptable range of values for your age category.
