“Designed to help all Cuesta College instructors, this website offers writing help suggestions, writing assignments, critical thinking exercises, and a discussion board where one can meet, offer advice, or seek advice from other instructors on this campus regarding critical thinking and/or writing assignments.”

—Stacy Pointer, English Instructor & Academic Support Committee member

Hello and welcome to the new website produced for and created by faculty at Cuesta College. My name is Stacy Pointer, and I teach in the English Department. I am fortunate to be a part of a committee called the Academic Support/Tutorial Committee, which forms a small group of committed, teaching-centered faculty from across a wide range of disciplines. As a group we will be here to help you integrate more writing assignments in your courses—and subsequently help your students forge a stronger bond between the thinking, reflecting, and learning process. We don't pretend to have all the answers to your questions, but we hope the website and this project in general will allow us to collaborate together to serve our students best.

We invite you to contact one of us—the committee members—or browse the website for helpful tips on creating an effective writing assignment, discovering useful websites related to helping students become better readers and writers, downloading helpful information about grammar, punctuation, or ESL issues, or keeping up-to-date on the ongoing Faculty Roundtable Discussion groups hosted by our committee.

We are excited to get started and have you join us. Please feel free to contact me directly at ext. 2742 or at spointer@cuesta.edu for personal or private questions; otherwise, I invite you to submit your questions or comments directly to our discussion chatboard for other faculty to view.
