CUESTA COLLEGE SEEKING NOMINATIONS FOR WOMEN OF
DISTINCTION AWARDS
Cuesta College is now seeking nominations for the 33rd Annual Women of
Distinction Awards, honoring women from San Luis Obispo County for their
outstanding achievement and contributions. The deadline for applications
is February 9 and applications are available at
www.communityprograms.net,
county Chamber of Commerce offices, Mid-State Bank branches and the
Community Programs office. Woman who live or work in San Luis Obispo
County are eligible for Women of Distinction Awards, and can be
nominated in a single category. Awards will be given at an awards
luncheon, on Friday, March 30.
San Luis Obispo County Women of Distinction Awards are given in the
following nine categories:
PROGRESS FOR WOMEN AWARD: Awarded to a woman whose commitment to a
particular program or issue of special relevance to women has helped to
improve the quality of life for women. As an example: arts, science,
health, etc.
COMMUNITY AND PUBLIC SERVICE AWARD, PROFESSIONAL: Awarded to a woman who
has, by virtue of her profession, distinguished herself by outstanding
professional service to the community.
COMMUNITY AND PUBLIC SERVICE AWARD, YOUNG PROFESSIONAL: Awarded to a
young woman, under the age of 30, who has, by virtue of her profession,
distinguished herself by outstanding professional service to the
community.
COMMUNITY AND PUBLIC SERVICE AWARD, VOLUNTEER: Awarded to a woman who
has distinguished herself as a volunteer by providing outstanding
service to the community.
COMMUNITY AND PUBLIC SERVICE AWARD, YOUNG VOLUNTEER: Awarded to a young
woman, under the age of 30, who has distinguished herself as a volunteer
by providing outstanding service to the community.
WOMEN IN EDUCATION: Awarded to a woman with distinctive achievement in
education, training, and development, continuing education or
alternative learning programs and improvement to the quality of
education.
BARBARA GEORGE WOMEN IN PHILANTHROPY AWARD: Awarded to a woman who is a
professional in philanthropy leadership and has provided outstanding and
sustained work for nonprofit 501C3 organizations by leading, modeling,
and promoting charitable giving with one or more organizations. Not
intended for recognition of a philanthropic gift but instead the
leadership of and service to philanthropic causes that has made a
substantive and positive difference.
SUSAN DRESSLER WOMEN IN ADMINISTRATIVE LEADERSHIP AWARD: Awarded to a
woman who has distinguished herself as an administrative, managerial,
executive leader for a sustained period of time. Intended for a woman
who has made substantive improvements in an organization, demonstrated
effective leadership and management, improved the quality of an
organization, and helped both men and women develop their leadership
skills.
GRACE N. MITCHELL LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD: Awarded to a woman with
distinguished service and dedication to women in more than one of the
four categories, and over an extended length of time throughout her
professional or voluntary career.
