CUESTA COLLEGE PERFORMING ARTS PRESENTS “A FALL FESTIVAL OF CHOIRS” ON OCTOBER 6

Four Cuesta College vocal ensembles will team up to perform classical, jazz and renaissance music at “A Fall Festival of Choirs.” This event will take place on Friday, October 6 at 7:30 p.m. at the Cuesta College San Luis Obispo Campus Conference Center, under the direction of music instructor John Knutson.

The Festival of Choirs will feature three of the student vocal ensembles – the Chamber Singers, the Concert Choir, and the vocal jazz ensemble Voce, and a guest appearance of the new North County choir, under the direction of Cassandra Tarantino.

Voce has consistently been one of the most recognized vocal jazz groups in California for over 20 years. The group was invited to perform at the International Association for Jazz Education convention in Toronto, the American Choral Directors Association National Convention, and was a featured performer at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland in July 2005.

Voce includes recent San Luis Obispo High graduates Nick Ouse, Clara Valdez and Chris Lane; and Morro Bay High School graduates Kati Kovacevic, Jessica Gilder and George Gorrindo. Voce also includes Sam Ogden, Kandle Relis, and Eric Kumalac of San Luis Obispo; and Heidi Swangler of Atascadero.

The Chambers Singers will perform folk music from around the world— including well-known American folks songs such as “Shenandoah” and “Black Is the Color of My True Love’s Hair.”

Tickets for the “Fall Festival of Choirs” are $10 for adults, $7 for students, seniors and children
under 12. For more information, contact Cuesta College Performing Arts at 546-3195.
