HOAG FOUNDATION GIVES FUNDS FOR NEW PARAMEDIC TRAINING PROGRAM
The George
Hoag Family
Foundation presented a check to the Nursing and Allied Health Department
today in the amount of $165,000; to support the establishment of the
Paramedics training program in conjunction with Allan Hancock College.
This is a program that will offer training to prepare current Emergency
Medical Technicians for careers as Paramedics in San Luis Obispo and
Northern Santa Barbara counties.
Coordinator
of the Paramedics Program, Dave Melendy and Director of Nursing and
Allied Health, Mary Parker were on hand to receive the check from Grant
and Donna Hoag. This grant will provide two years of faculty salaries
and equipment for the Paramedics training program.
“This grant
will give the Paramedics Training Program what it needs to get up and
running” said Grant Hoag. “Time is of the essence when immediate
medical attention is needed and that is what this program will be able
to provide to the community.”
This
training program will fill a need in San Luis Obispo County, which has
been brought to the attention of Cuesta College by the local Fire
Chiefs, who previously had to send staff to paramedic training programs
out of the area.
