CUESTA COLLEGE PRESENTS A SPRING CHOIR
CONCERT
ON APRIL 7
FEATURING The Cuesta Chamber Singers,
Vocé And Concert Choir
It’s time to relax and celebrate spring – the Cuesta College Chamber
Singers, Concert Choir and Vocé present their “Spring Choir Concert”
Friday, April 7 at 7:30 p.m. in the Cuesta College San Luis Obispo
Campus Conference Center.
Cuesta College’s
award-winning vocal ensembles will perform an exciting mix of classical,
jazz, gospel, and traditional folk music in one evening. The Spring
Choir Concert will feature the Cuesta Chamber Singers and Concert Choir,
as well as Cuesta’s nationally renowned vocal jazz ensemble, Vocé.
The Cuesta Chamber
Singers will be performing excerpts from Gabriel Faure’s “Requiem,”
works by Mozart (in honor of his 250th birthday), and two
enchanting smaller works by California composers Graeme Langager and
Bradley Nelson. The Chamber Singers will close the show with “I’m Gonna
Sing til’ the Spirit Moves in My Heart,” a hard-hitting gospel
number that will get the audience on their feet.
The Chamber Singers
toured Europe this past summer, giving nine performances in Switzerland,
the Czech Republic, Germany, and Austria. Vocé joined this tour to make
their ninth appearance at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. The
performance is under the direction of Cuesta music instructor John
Knutson. “This is by far the strongest ensemble sound I’ve had in my
four years at Cuesta,” says Knutson. “Vocé in particular is a group that
everyone should see this year. Vocé was honored this past February to be
one of three Vocal Jazz groups asked to perform at the National
Convention of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA).”
Tickets for the
“Cuesta College Spring Choir Concert” are $10 for adults, $8 for
students, seniors and children under 12. For more information, contact
Cuesta College Performing Arts at 546-3195.
