CUESTA COLLEGE SEEKING
NOMINATIONS FOR "WOMEN OF DISTINCTION" – DEADLINE IS FEBRUARY 10
Cuesta College is searching for local women who have
distinguished themselves by their outstanding achievements and
contributions to the community. Nominations are now being accepted for
the 2006 San Luis Obispo County "Women of Distinction." Awards will be
given at a luncheon, which will be held on Friday, March 31. Nominations
in the following categories are due by February 10.
Progress For Women Award:
Awarded to a woman whose commitment to a particular program or issue of
special relevance to women has helped to improve the quality of life for
women. (e.g. arts, science, health etc.)
Community and Public Service Award, Professional:
Awarded to a woman who has, by virtue of her profession, distinguished
herself by outstanding professional service to the community.
Community and Public Service Award, Young Professional:
Awarded to a young woman, under the age of 30, who has by
virtue of her profession distinguished herself by outstanding
professional service to the community.
Community and Public Service Award, Volunteer:
Awarded to a woman who has distinguished herself as a volunteer by
providing outstanding service to the community.
Community and Public Service Award, Young Volunteer:
Awarded to a young woman, under the age of 30, who has distinguished
herself as a volunteer by providing outstanding service to the
community.
Women in Education:
Awarded to a woman with distinctive achievement in education, training,
and development, continuing education or alternative learning programs
and improvement to the quality of education.
Barbara George Women In Philanthropy Award:
Awarded to a woman who is a professional in philanthropy leadership and
has provided outstanding and sustained work for nonprofit 501C3
organizations by leading, modeling and promoting charitable giving with
one or more organizations. Not intended for recognition of a
philanthropic gift but instead the leadership of and service
to philanthropic causes that has made a substantive and
positive difference.
Susan Dressler Women In Administrative Leadership Award:
Awarded to a woman who has distinguished herself as an administrative,
managerial, executive leader for a sustained period of time. The award
is intended for a woman who has made substantive improvements in an
organization, demonstrated effective leadership and management, improved
the quality of an organization, and helped both men and women develop
their leadership skills.
Grace N. Mitchell Lifetime Achievement Award:
Awarded to a woman with distinguished service and dedication to women in
more than one of the four categories, and over an extended length of
time throughout her professional or voluntary career.
The 2006 winners will be notified of their selection
three weeks prior to the Women's Forum, and receive their awards at a
special luncheon presentation on Friday, March 31.
Any individual, business or community organization may
nominate any woman who lives or works in San Luis Obispo County.
Nominees should be recommended in a single award category. Completed
nomination forms must be returned to Cuesta College by February 10.

Mid-State Bank branches, the Cuesta College Community Programs office,
