CUESTA COLLEGE WIND ENSEMBLE WELCOMES THE FALL SEASON WITH PERFORMANCE
ON OCTOBER 5
Here’s a great way to spend a fall evening – enjoy a concert by the
Cuesta College Wind Ensemble, scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.,
Wednesday, October 5 in the Blakeslee Auditorium, located behind the San
Luis Obispo Campus. Cuesta Music Instructor Jennifer Martin directs the
30 Wind Ensemble members on brass, woodwinds and percussion.
The group will perform a variety
of classical pieces, including works by J.S. Bach, John Philip Sousa,
Percy Grainger, and Gilbert and Sullivan. The central piece of the
concert will be the ballet suite from "Pineapple Poll" by Gilbert and
Sullivan, made up of tunes from their popular operettas, including "The
Mikado," "Pirates of Penzance," "HMS Pinafore" and others.
The Wind Ensemble is comprised of Cuesta students, Cal Poly students,
local high school students and adult community members. Membership is
open to anyone with the right talents – even if they are not traditional
college students.
Tickets for the performance are $10 for adults and $8 for students,
seniors and children under 12. For more information, contact Cuesta
College Performing Arts at 546-3195.
