Hollister Bridge Replacement Project Team
Cuesta College has awarded contracts to local firms to manage, design, build and monitor the Hollister Bridge replacement. The Hollister Road Bridge Replacement Project will be managed by MNS Engineers with Karen Sampson acting as project manager and resident engineer. Souza Construction will function as the general contractor, and The Wallace Group is responsible for the new bridge design. SWCA (Morro Group) will provide environmental monitoring services.

“Local construction management, environment monitoring and general contractors were selected for this project,” said Mark Wilwand, director of facilities planning and construction. “I feel that we’ve assembled the best possible team of contractors for a project of this nature.”

Signage and Project Updates
Signage is placed at Foothill Boulevard, O’Connor Way and at both entrances to Cuesta College instructing motorists and bicyclists of the road closure. Regular status updates and project information will be available on www.cuesta.edu for the duration of the project.

Funding
The replacement of the bridge is valued at $2 million and is fully funded by the Federal Highway Bridge Replacement Fund (HBR) and the State Office of Emergency Services (OES). 88.6 percent of the grant funding is coming from the Federal Highway Bridge Replacement program.  That portion of the project funding is administered locally by CalTrans Local Assistance in SLO.  The source of the remaining 11.4 percent grant funds are from the State Office of Emergency Services.
