Dwight
Panter is the Outstanding Academic Employee of the Year
It’s hard to image Engineering and Technology without the guidance of Dwight Panter, who has been named the Outstanding Academic Employee for 2003.
As Division Chair of Engineering and Technology, Panter gives tireless attention to all division programs and continually fights for their development, expansion and financial resources. According to one nominator, “Dwight’s reputation across campus for fairness and enthusiasm is acknowledgement of his patience and persistence. His leadership is reflected by the respect gained throughout the department: his approach encompasses all programs; his appeal is to each person; and his effort is for Cuesta College.” Another nominator has this to say: “his positive attitude not only influences other instructors, but has made a great impact on students of his own exemplary Welding Department.”
Panter was hired in September, 1976 as a Welding Technology Instructor. He shared the duties as Division Chair with Jeff Jones beginning fall of 1998, and assumed the role full-time in fall of 1999. Panter holds a master’s and bachelor’s degree in industrial arts from Fresno State University.
