Men's Water Polo Best Finish
Since 1990 – Third in State

The Cuesta College Men’s Water Polo team won their third straight Western State Conference title. The Cougars were the third seed from Southern California, of three qualifiers, and had to face the North’s top team Santa Rosa in the first round.  The Cougars helped knock the Bear Cubs out of the tournament with a 9-6 win. Next the Cougars lost to eventual, and defending, State Champion Long Beach, 14-7, but bounced back to face the #1 seed from the South, Golden West, in the third place game.  The Cougars beat the Rustlers in overtime to claim third place and post their best finish since 1989. The win over Golden West also marked the first time that Cuesta has beaten the Rustlers since 1992 and for only the seventh time in 28 years. The Cougars ended the year with a 27-8-1 overall record.
