Theater Arts Building Update

The Cuesta College Board of Trustees voted on November 1 to approve the construction bids for the Theater Arts Building.  The new Cuesta College Theater Arts Building will contain a contemporary teaching facility and will provide 24,193 square feet of space for Performing Arts students.

In addition to the new space for teaching, this building will house the main theater, a 1900 square foot experimental theater, dressing rooms, scene shop, storage, and warm up room.  Soon after the opening day in December 2008, Cuesta College students will have the opportunity to perform for the community in this state of the art facility.

The Theater Arts building will fulfill a dual need of providing a contemporary academic training facility for Cuesta College students pursing a career in the performing arts and also serving the community need of having a world-class performance space.

Cuesta College held a groundbreaking for the new Theater Arts Building on December 6, at 1:00 p.m.  Community members, dignitaries, Cuesta College students, faculty and staff attended the celebration.
