Cuesta College Hospitality Program Meets Community Need

The Cuesta College Hospitality Program provides training for current hospitality industry employees.  Giving employees the training they need to qualify for promotions to supervisory and/or management positions.  The Cuesta College Hospitality Program was started in Fall 2003 and has thrived ever since.

Tourism is the largest industry sector in San Luis Obispo County, and qualified hospitality employees are vital to the success of this industry.  The Cuesta College Hospitality Program is generating highly trained and qualified hospitality employees for the growing tourism industry.

“This program provides cost-effective job training for students,” said Michele McAustin, Business Education Division Chair.  “And gives them the training they need to advance from entry-level to supervisory positions.”

This program is a favorite of students and attracts new students every semester.  Cuesta College offers an Associate of Science degree and a Certificate of Completion in Hospitality, and with the completion of a degree or certificate, each student will earn industry-recognized certificates from the American Hotel and Lodging Association.

The Cuesta College Hospitality Programs Food and Beverage Management Class held a Special Events Night, where students presented their unique and innovative party concepts.  This event was open to the public and held on the San Luis Obispo campus.
