A retirement party for Dr. Marie E. Some of the highlights of the event included performances by Cuesta College’s vocal jazz ensemble – Voce and performances by Performing Arts faculty members Jennifer Martin, George Stone, Darrell Voss and Ron McCarley. Master of Ceremonies and Foundation Director Bob Wacker, kept the crowd laughing during the program, which included tributes by County Supervisor Katcho Achadjian, and former Cuesta College presidents Dr. Frank Martinez and Dr. Grace Mitchell. Other notables in attendance included San Luis Obispo Mayor Dave Romero, Cuesta College Trustees Marie Kiersch, Pat Mullen, and Per Matiesen, Alan Hancock President Jose Ortiz, and many past and present Cuesta employees. Presentations of resolutions and proclamations were made by elected officials or their representatives including: Betsy Umhofer for Congresswoman Lois Capps, Trustee Pat Mullen for Congressman Bill Thomas and State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Jack O’Connell, Courtney Kienow for Senator Able Maldonado and Assemblyman Sam Blakeslee, Katcho Achadjian for the SLO County Board of Supervisors, and Cuesta College Foundation President Jim Sargen.
