Two Cuesta College Architecture Students Recognized in National Competition |

Cuesta College Architecture students Song Yi and Ashley Bidwell were recognized for their entries in the Boston Park Kiosk Design Competition. This competition requires students to design a kiosk that may include seating, shelter and a place to display park information. Song Yi, a Cuesta College Architecture students created a kiosk he describes as small in stature and serving one real purpose, to give information to its user, and for his design he was awarded a merit award for innovation. Ashley Bidwell was awarded a merit award for Usability for her design that would serve as both an aesthetically appealing and interactive element to the park. “It's a tremendous honor for Cuesta students to be recognized in a national design competition of this caliber,” said Dave Fernandez, Lead Instructor for Architecture at Cuesta College. “It validates the commitment and intensity our architecture students have and demonstrates their desire to succeed. I’m proud to be a part of it.” The Boston Park Kiosk Design Competition is put on by The American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) and the Vinyl Institute. This competition is intended to teach students about using different materials, specifically vinyl building materials.
