PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE:

This column represents my last one for CC News and the end of CC News in its current form. Whether there will be a new version of the Cuesta College newsletter lies in the hands of the Interim and fifth permanent Superintendent/President. When I came in 1999, I wanted a monthly internal newsletter that would keep everyone informed about college news, special achievements, and individual news. But the paper and ink of traditional newsletters was soon displaced by broadcasting CC News on the Cuesta web site where graphics and pictures could enhance text. That change is simple compared to the communication means that will become available through “myCuesta” in January 2007. Monthly newsletters might be totally stale, perhaps you will begin your day, or certainly your week with a quick read of college news on “myCuesta.”

Change – whether from paper to computer screen, from traditional classrooms to on-line learning, from typical college frosh to today’s returning adults, from the 20th century to the 21st, from one college president to the next – is what characterizes my time with you.  Cuesta College is not the college of your parents, nor will it be today’s Cuesta for your grandchildren. Today Cuesta’s students are more diverse in ethnicity and age, its programs more numerous, varied, and technologically dependent, its employees more diverse and numerous, and its campuses and centers spread throughout the County.
