A Holiday Concert at the Old Mission Saturday, December 10

It’s time to relax and actually enjoy the holidays – the Cuesta College Chamber Singers, Vocé and Concert Choir will present a Holiday Concert at 8 p.m., Saturday, December 10 at the Old Mission San Luis Obispo.

At the Holiday Concert, the Cuesta Chamber Singers, Vocé and Concert Choir will be working hand-in-hand with Toys for Tots to collect toys for local children. They hope to make the holiday season a little brighter for the children of San Luis Obispo County.

The performance will feature everything from a Medieval processional to gospel choir and jazz. Plenty of old holiday chestnuts like “Jingle Bells,” “Silent Night,” and “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing,” as well as multi-cultural, solstice and Hannukah pieces also will be featured.

The Chamber Singers will close their set with a Gospel version of Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus.” Then the entire cast will come on stage for a holiday carol sing-a-long. The grand finale will be “Heartlight,” by Neil Diamond, the theme song for the Toys for Tots donation campaign: “Put On Your Heartlight.”

The Cuesta Chamber Singers just returned from Europe this past August. They raised $50,000 in the community, and gave nine performances in Prague, Vienna, Salzburg, Geneva, Montreux, and Munich.

Donation boxes for toys will be on hand at the concert. Please bring a toy to donate for Toys for Tots.

Tickets for the “Holiday Concert at the Old Mission” are $10 for adults, $8 for students, seniors and children under 12. For more information, contact Cuesta College Performing Arts at ext. 3195.
