Free Legal Advice for Students

The Student Life and Leadership Office and the Associated Students of Cuesta College would like to remind everyone of the “Free Legal Counseling Services” that will once again be offered this semester at the SLO campus.

Attorney Stephen C. Ronca, who has served Cuesta College students for the past eight years, will be available on campus Thursday mornings from 11:00am - 1:00pm. His services will begin September 2nd and finish on December 2nd. Students must schedule an appointment by either stopping by the Student Center reception desk in 5300, or by calling 546-3289. Drop-in appointments are not possible.

At the North County campus, we are unable to offer legal counseling services at this time as we are currently searching for a new volunteer attorney for this campus. When we are able to offer these services again, we will follow up with an announcement and provide all pertinent information.

When letting students know about the service, please make them aware of the following guidelines:

  • This service is only available to students with a current ASCC Student ID card with a fall 2004 sticker! No exceptions!
  • Faculty and staff are not eligible for this program unless they are also students with a current ASCC Student ID card. No exceptions!
  • Appointments need to be scheduled in advance; drop-in appointments are not permitted.
  • Appointments start promptly and are limited to 15 minutes in length.
  • Students are entitled to only one session per semester, unless the legal counselor authorizes an additional visit.
  • All services are confidential.
  • If a scheduled appointment must be missed, the appointment needs to be canceled at least 48 hours in advance.
  • If a student does not show up for his/her scheduled session, that student may be precluded from scheduling another appointment for the entire semester.

Please help us inform students of this wonderful and vital student-only benefit!
