Drama Department Brings the Story of Helen Keller to Cuesta College
A stirring portrait of determination and achievement in the face of adversity will take the stage, with the Drama Department’s production of the "The Miracle Worker." Inspired by the true story of Helen Keller, the performances are scheduled at 8 p.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, December 4, 5, 6, 10, 11, 12 and 13; at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 12; and at 2 p.m. on Sundays, December 7 and 14. All performances will take place in the Interact Theater, located on the San Luis Obispo Campus.
The story of Helen Keller and her teacher, Anne Sullivan, has inspired theatre-goers for years. A condensed
production of William Gibson's classic play, "The Miracle Worker" presents unique insights into the world of the senses – challenging audiences to imagine a world without the power to hear, speak or see. It was first performed on Broadway more than 40 years ago, electrifying audiences and earning six Tony Awards, including Best Play.
The Drama Department’s version of "The Miracle Worker" is being directed by Drama Instructor bree valle (lowercase intentional). Tickets for the event are $10 general admission and $8 for students with an ID. For more information, contact the Cuesta College Drama Department at ext. 3282.
