Cellular One Athletes of the Month

Submitted by Cuesta College Athletics

Kevin Bradley
Water Polo

Cellular One of San Luis Obispo, in an extension of its sponsorship of the Cuesta College Athletics Department, is proud to announce this month’s selections for the Cellular One Athlete of the Month. This distinct honor recognizes two Cuesta College Athletes each month during the school year who have performed to the highest standards in their sport.

Our male selection for October is sophomore poloist Kevin Bradley. High expectations were held for Bradley as he entered his sophomore campaign, and he has lived up to all of them. Bradley is universally regarded as one of the finest players in Community College Water Polo and one of the best all around players to hit the tank for Cuesta. He ranks third in the State in goals (66) and is fifth in steals (39). Bradley also leads the Cougars in ejections drawn (35) and is third on the team in assists (7). Last week, Kevin became only the 17th player in Cuesta History to achieve 100 career goals. He is currently ranked #12 all time with 120 tallies.

The Cougars are in Coach Terry Bowen’s 25 and final season. They are 12-6 on the year and are currently ranked 7th in the State. The Cougars have made the playoffs in each of the past 24 seasons and are looking to win the program’s 20th conference title.

Elysia Sauve
Water Polo

Our female selection for October is freshman poloist Elysia Sauve. In the first month of her collegiate career, Sauve has established herself as one of the most dangerous offensive players in the State. She ranks sixth in the State with 56 goals and her 3.3 goals per game average is the best in Cuesta’s history. She broke a Cuesta record with 19 goals at the Diablo Valley Tournament, and her seven-goal game against Foothill tied the school’s single game scoring record. Sauve also is a fierce competitor and excels in all facets of the game. She is among the team leaders in steals (40), assists (15) and ejections drawn (21).

The Cougars are looking to defend their 2002 Western State Conference title and reach the playoffs for the fifth consecutive year. They are 11-6 on the season and ranked 9th in the State.
