Domestic abuse among college students? It’s more common than you think according to Griselda Sánchez, a multicultural events coordinator at Santa Barbara City College. Sánchez will focus on these domestic issues during “Breaking the Cycle,” a workshop scheduled Wednesday, October 26. The first workshop will be held at 11:30 a.m. in North County Campus Room 3009. The second workshop will follow at 2:30 p.m., in San Luis Obispo Campus Room 5401. According to Sánchez, “sometimes individuals get the idea that only older and married women and men experience abusive relationships, but in many cases, it is also younger men and women who experience abuse.” Students will have the opportunity to learn the fact vs. the myths of domestic violence, and have a safe place for discussion on how to break the cycle. The event is sponsored by the 2005-2006 Cuesta College President’s Diversity Grant. Refreshments will be provided.
