Lets take a moment to honor the lives of those we have lost; they will be in our hearts and minds for a long time to come. They led full and exiting lives and celebrating their lives is an important way to honor their memory. Sharon Blattner Many of us knew and loved Sharon Blattner, our former Director of Community Programs. Sharon lost her valiant struggle with cancer on August 1, 2006. It was a privilege to work with Sharon, she had a spark of life, she was full of energy, creative ideas, a positive attitude, a warm and loving heart, beautiful smile, and wonderful leader of Community Programs. Sharon retired due to illness in June 2004. She and her husband John have one daughter Chrissa, who begins college this fall. Sharon grew up in Pomroy, a small farming community in Washington, where she served as a Life Guard at the local pool. Sharon loved the water and aquatic sports, and her love of the water continued into her adult life. She enjoyed taking houseboat trips with family and friends; she also loved to go white water rafting, water skiing and swimming. She was a natural athlete and excelled in tennis, softball, and soccer. Sharon also holds the title of Oregon’s Lowest Limbo Championship and continues to hold the title. The loss of friend and colleague Sharon Blattner reminds us of the blessing of each day and the importance of treasuring those with whom we work and share friendship. You will be missed… Clifford C.
