| Cuesta architecture students took part in a national competition that explored both cultural elements and form in a single design.
Second year students each created and designed a chair made entirely of corrugated cardboard and glue. Sponsored by the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS), the experience gave students a deeper understanding of the process of problem analysis, problem definition, idea selection, implementation and evaluation. In addition to creating the actual chair, competition entry also required each student to produce a presentation board – a board that had to document both the construction process and convey the functional and esthetic qualities of each chair.
The chairs were on display at the Cuesta College Library from May 2 to May 17. |
