The Entourage Cuesta Dance Ensemble is slated to present an eclectic mix of performances later this month. “Exhale,” a collection of both student and guest choreography, will premiere on April 29 at 7:30 p.m. in Cuesta’s Blakesee Auditorium, with another show slated for the next night at the same time. Student pieces include a pointe number titled “I Want to Be Loved by You,” as well as an Asian-influenced dance set to The Beatles’ “Within You and Without You.” Also included will be a modern interlude to the theme song from the “Ren and Stimpy” cartoon series. Guest choreographers Lily Wang, Marco Cruz and Jude Clark-Warnisher will also be showcasing their pieces. Wang, director of the Bay Area peninsula group Dog Patch Superstars, a contemporary dance company formed six years ago, will present “Six Degrees.” Central Coast/Los Angeles based Cruz is set to perform a hip-hop number, and Variable Velocity, a Central Coast professional troupe, will stage a finale set to the music of Greyboy. The Cuesta ensemble is under the direction of Michelle Walter and assistant director Harmony Rougeot. Advanced tickets can be purchased at The Dance Shop on Morro Street in downtown San Luis Obispo or the bookstore on Cuesta’s main campus. Tickets are also available at the door. General admission is $10, with students, seniors and children getting in for $7 each. For more information, phone 546-3100 ext. 2704. |
