April is Cultural Diversity Awareness Month – and Cuesta's Cultural Diversity/Student Equity Committee is sponsoring several activities that focus on acknowledging the respect for our differences. April 21 is a screening of “Promises,” a documentary featuring Israeli and Palestinian children talking about their perceptions and experiences regarding the Middle East conflict. The film will be shown at 2 p.m. on Cuesta’s main campus, Room 5312. On April 23, the photo exhibition “With Our Own Eyes (Con Nuestros Propio Ojos)” opens at the Oak Park Recreation Center in Paso Robles, with a reception slated from 4 to 9 p.m. that evening. Described as a youth-led photo documentary exhibit about the indigenous community of San Juan Nuevo Parangaricutiro, the photos will be on display through May 19. Everyone is invited to “Last Chance for Eden Part 2,” a documentary about sexism and its impact on both men and women. It will show on April 25 at 9:30 a.m. in the morning on North Campus, N1002. A discussion will follow the screening. For more information about the committee and upcoming events, log on to academic.cuesta.edu/cultural/calendar.htm. |
