Cuesta Wins Prestigious American Advertising Federation ADDY Award

Cuesta College was recently notified that two television commercials produced by the Public Information and Marketing Department, in association with Next Movement Entertainment in Santa Maria, won both the Gold and the Silver ADDY awards for the Coastal California District of the American Advertising Federation.

The Gold winning commercial “Life Starts Today” is automatically submitted to the Southern California/Nevada regional competition.  The Silver award winning commercial is titled “When I Grow Up.” Both commercials were designed to increase awareness of available financial aid and encourage County residents to attend Cuesta.

The television commercials were conceived under the leadership of Institutional Advancement Executive Director, June Stephens, acting stand-in Scott Roark and produced by Stephan Gunsaulus. Many departments provided actors, locations, and the use of their facilities, with a special thanks to the ever supportive David Dowell, Mary Parker, and Bob Davidson.

The productions were funded by the Financial Aid Department (big thanks to Robin Crawford) from State supplemental funds designated to enhance awareness of financial aid support available at Cuesta. Next Movement Entertainment’s founder Justin Viar collaborated with IA on the productions and directed each commercial, which were photographed using the latest digital technology High Definition (HD) cameras.
