Music Faculty Member Releases CD

Cuesta College music faculty member and professional composer David Rackley has just released his eighth compact disc with partner and local musician/composer Terry Lawless.

“Trance Generation” contains 15 full tracks of electronic dance music and 45 tracks of musical underscores. The Abaco Music Library has produced and distributed the CD to production houses throughout the world for use in television and movie under scores. It is not available for purchase.

Rackley’s production music credits include “Days of Our Lives,” “America’s Most Wanted,” “Cheers,” “Nurses,” “Picket Fences,” “L.A. Law,” “All My Children,” “General Hospital,” “Home Improvement,” “Quantum Leap,” and “Seinfeld.” Other music awards include six Tellys, a CINE Golden Eagle Award, the Gold Apple Award from the National Education Media Network, a Gold CINDY from the International Association of Audiovisual Communicators, and two Bronze Awards from the WorldFest International Film and Video Competition.

The annual Telly Award recognizes outstanding non-network and cable TV programming and commercials, and non-broadcast film and video production. Rackley received awards for music he composed for several made-for-TV productions, including “The Mystery of Genius” for the A&E channel, and a four-part series on the secret Soviet space program called “Red Space,” which aired on the Science Channel.

Rackley teaches music appreciation and music fundamentals courses at Cuesta College. He is also director of the Cal Poly Marching Band and serves on the music faculties of two other colleges. He has composed music scores for the Library of Congress, major television networks, and local productions.
