| Cuesta Hosts Statewide Latina Conference |

| For the first time since its inception, the
Latina Leadership Network’s (LLN) statewide conference is coming to the
Central Coast. The 17th annual conference, entitled "Nurturing Our
Latina Spirit," is scheduled between 12 and 9 p.m. on Friday, March
12 and between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 13. It will be held at
the Cuesta College San Luis Obispo Campus Conference Center.
San Luis Obispo County Superior Judge Teresa Estrada-Mullaney will be one of three keynote speakers for the event. She was San Luis Obispo County’s first female prosecutor, and was elected in 1996 as the county’s first female judge. Estrada-Mullaney is the only individual of Latino heritage to serve as a judge in San Luis Obispo County in the 20th Century. Other keynote speakers include Darlene Pacheco, who served as Vice President for Instruction and as Interim President at Moorpark College, and Maria Elena Ramirez, a counselor at Ohlone College. Other Latina leaders will serve as panelists for the conference, including Teresa Arredondo-Venegas, President and CEO of Aircraft Paint Inc.; Celeste Royer, Statewide Manager of the California Regional Environmental Education Community (CREEC) Network; Rosa Saucedo-Rodriguez, an award-winning community volunteer and local consultant; and Antonia Herrera, Division Manager of the San Luis Obispo County Probation Department. A variety of workshops will be featured at the conference, including "Exercising Your Leadership Options"; "Retention and Success of Latino/a Students"; and "Multiple Solutions to the At-Risk Puzzle." The LLN is organization committed to educational excellence, student access and success, and leadership development for Latinas who work and/or attend California community colleges. It strives to maintain la cultura Latina and to promote non-sexist family values.
