Emeritus Art Students Show Their Work

"Fresh Paint" is on display at
Linnea's Cafe through March 28

Submitted by the Emeritus College Program

Emeritus art students have their talents on full display in downtown SLO. An exhibition of original watercolor paintings by 24 Emeritus students is being shown at Linnaea’s Café,
1110 Garden Street in San Luis Obispo through March 28.

The students for the past two years attended a Tuesday morning watercolor class taught by local artist Marguerite Lyons at the Laguna Lake Mobile Estates community room. The show, titled "Fresh Paint," will include more than 40 paintings of landscapes, florals, figures and still-lifes.

"Most of the artists have never before displayed their work in an organized art show," said Marguerite. "It is very exciting to see students, many of whom have never held a paint brush, create such beautiful paintings. I hope they are very proud of themselves."

When you reach a point in your life when you have the luxury of time, it is rewarding to find a program that was developed for people seeking more education. "The wonderful thing is that the Emeritus classes are free to the public and are taught by highly professional instructors,"
said artist Sabrina Ross, a participant in the painting class.

A reception for the artists, friends and family will be held Sunday, March 7 from 3 to 6 p.m. Linnaea’s Café is open Monday through Thursday, 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, from 6:30 a.m. to 12 a.m. and Sundays 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.
