The Board of Trustees officially adapted the proposed district goals for 2006-2007 at its February 1st meeting. The goals are as follows:
2006-2007 Goals for the San Luis Obispo County Community College District
- Realign the annual college planning process to fit with the California Community College Strategic Plan, ACCJC/WASC eligibility requirements and standards, as well as college needs and priorities.
- Continue to increase employees’ cultural competency: enhancing their professional development, improving student outreach and retention, and increasing student and employee satisfaction.
- Foster employees’ commitment to develop a collaborative, healthy, rewarding college culture that results in improved decision-making, shared governance, employee satisfaction, and institutional effectiveness.
- Continue the implementation and evaluation of strategies that improve the institution’s performance on its institutional effectiveness outcomes and student achievement outcomes.
- Implement and evaluate strategies that will ensure college compliance with Accreditation Eligibility Requirement 10, “The institution defines and published for each program the program’s expected student learning and achievement outcomes. Through regular and systematic assessment, it demonstrates that students who complete programs, no matter where or how they are offered, achieve these outcomes.”
- To increase enrollment and stimulate county economic development, implement the updated 2005 Educational and Facilities Master Plan: by developing and offering the new and expanded programs and courses, by increasing academic offerings and support services for South County and North County, by providing a coherent program of academic support for at-risk students, and by increasing student course load and retention and persistence.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the Enrollment and Retention Strategies used for 2005-2006, revise, intensify, or create the strategies, as appropriate for changing demographics and community needs, that will increase both student headcount and FTES to meet the District’s funded growth target.
- Assuming the Cuesta College bond measure passes, form the Citizens Committee, develop project priorities and timelines, and implement the highest priority projects for the first issuance of bonds in 2006-2007.
