VOCATIONAL - ESL training

IPD has been awarded a $148,759 grant to provide Industry Specific Vocational English as a Second Language (IS-VESL) training program to six business partners in SLO County. The curriculum and training are customized and will take place on site at each business and provide vocational English to limited English speaking employees.

The goals of the program are to provide necessary language skills to increase workforce performance and workplace literacy. In addition, the employee will be better prepared to move up the workplace career ladder when the opportunity arises. The 20-month grant involves two sessions of 60 hours of classroom instruction specifically targeted to businesses in agriculture, hospitality and manufacturing.
