Rodger Anderson is the

A former mayor of Morro Bay and owner of a popular, local restaurant has been named the Cuesta College Alumnus of the Year for 2005. Rodger Anderson has honored with the distinction for not only his many career achievements, but for his many years of giving back to the community as a volunteer.

Anderson attended Cuesta between 1968 and 1971, before transferring to Cal Poly and earning his bachelor’s degree in speech communication in 1974. He is the owner of The Galley restaurant in Morro Bay and served on the Morro Bay City Council from 1980 to 1984, and from 1994 to 1998. Anderson was the Mayor of Morro Bay between 1998 and 2002.   

Anderson has served as a coach and volunteer for Special Olympics for nearly 15 years, and has volunteered with the Estero Bay Youth Coalition for the last 10 years. He was named the 1999 Volunteer of the Year by the San Luis Obispo Prevention Alliance. Anderson is married with five children. His spouse and two of his children are Cuesta graduates.
