The Cuesta College Foundation and Institutional Advancement has a new Executive Director. Commencing on January 18, June Stephens will take over the position from Barbara George, a longtime Cuesta employee and community leader who retired last month. Stephens will continue the work of George by leading the Cuesta College Foundation and the Grants Program, as well as overseeing the Public Information and Marketing Program. To this end, Stephens will also interface closely with Cuesta Superintendent/President Marie Rosenwasser to develop plans for generating revenue, and also manage/distribute funds to district programs and services. In addition, Stephens will serve as a primary liaison between the District, the Foundation Board of Directors, and individuals, groups and businesses connected to the local SLO County community. “June will be a wonderful addition to Cuesta College, providing us the benefits of her experience in resource development and marketing,” says Marie Rosenwasser. “I also know she is eager to get to know the community and help Cuesta reach new levels.” Stephens’ selection followed a nationwide recruitment effort. She previously served as the Planned Giving Officer for the Foundation of the Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage, and prior to that, served as Director of Advancement and Executive Director of the Foundation at Shasta College in Redding, California. Stephens’ most recent position was in Yucca Valley, where she managed operations for the Hi-Desert Nature Musuem and California Welcome Center for that city’s Community Services Department. She has also helped raise funds for Bishop Quinn High School and St. Francis Middle School in Palo Cedro, California. In addition, Stephens served as Executive Director for the College of the Desert Alumni Association. There, she developed an advertising and promotion campaign for that organization’s Street Fair, which generated annual revenues of more than $1 million. “Cuesta is one of the premier community colleges in California,” says June Stephens. “I am extremely fortunate to be part of the team.” |
