Shot by Cuesta Photographer/Publications Coordinator Stephan Gunsaulus this past summer, the snapshot is part of the 2005 calendar published by Sirsi, a corporation that leads in providing library management and software systems to libraries and consortia around the world. Primarily distributed to its clients (of which Cuesta is one), the calendar will be seen by more than 10,000 people, including those in Spain, Australia, Singapore and the United Kingdom.

Gunsaulus’ image graces the month of August and shows the front entrance of the Cuesta Libary, which contains more than 77,000 books within its 46,000 square foot facility. Sirsi receives up to 500 submissions every year, with only 12 selected for the final product. Says Gunsaulus: “What is most exciting for me is the company we’re in, like Emory University in Atlanta and Loyola University in New Orleans. It’s an opportunity to help Cuesta achieve even more positive notoriety.” Gunsaulus says he took about four trips to the library over the course of several weeks, shooting at various times of the day and at different angles to finally get the winning look.
