PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE: Building Commmunity

As we welcome new employees, we have a special opportunity to build a stronger sense of community among the faculty, staff, and administration and between the employees and students. Our new colleagues will both learn and change the Cuesta culture.
Now is the time to listen to one another’s stories in division meetings, to invite a new employee to lunch, to take a campus walk with someone who just got here. We can reinvent the experience of being the Cuesta family if we get to know and learn from one another. 2005 is a milestone in this district’s 42-year history because over 50% of the employees were not here ten years ago. Creating Community was a focus of the Faculty Retreat; it is a wish I hear expressed by classified staff and managers. Let’s make this wish a reality by becoming a warm, caring, and supportive Cuesta family. continued…
