The Cultural Diversity and Student Equity Committee, in partnership with Superintendent/President Marie Rosenwasser, is proud to unveil the President’s Diversity Grant in the amount of $1,000. The grant is designed to encourage faculty, staff, divisions and departments to incorporate creative ways to promote, teach, learn and plan for diversity within the college. The grant, sparked by Yolanda Waddell, C.D.S.E. committee member and Cuesta College Emeritus retiree, reflects a successful collaboration between the C.D.S.E. committee. The committee is co-chaired by faculty members Matt Vasques and Jane Morgan, who convened a task force to develop the concept and the President who endorsed the grant and provided funding through the Cuesta College Foundation President’s Innovation and Motivation Fund. The grant was created with the goal of calling attention to the importance the college places on cultural, social and economic diversity, and to serve as an incentive to improve diversity on campus. The President’s Diversity Grant application deadline is Friday, April 2, 2004. Applications are now available on the C.D.S.E. web page at: http://academic.cuesta.edu/cultural/ Grant proposals are for the 2004-2005 academic year. Applicants may be regular or temporary faculty, permanent classified or managerial employees of Cuesta College. Announcement of the grant winner will take place at the college’s end-of-the–year event. Committee members hope there will be wide interest and many applications for this first cycle! |
