Cellular One Athletes of the Month
       

Jeff Kuhn’s versatility allows him to play everywhere on the court but point-guard. He netted a season-high 22 pts. in the Cougars’ 93-88 win over Merced at the Gold Coast Tournament on December 12.
 

Cellular One of San Luis Obispo, in an extension of its sponsorship of the Cuesta College Athletics Department, is proud to announce this month’s selections for the Cellular One Athlete of the Month. This distinct honor recognizes two Cuesta College Athletes each month during the school year who have performed to the highest standards in their sport.

Male Athlete of the Month

Jeff Kuhn
Basketball

Our male selection for January is sophomore Forward Jeff Kuhn, the lone sophomore on the Cougars’ roster that has been the consummate team leader on-and-off the court. He is averaging 10.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and, 1.6 assists per game on the year, and is a tenacious defender and a good shooter both inside and outside.

Kuhn’s versatility allows him to play everywhere on the court but point-guard. He netted a season-high 22 points in the Cougars’ 93-88 win over Merced at the Gold Coast Tournament on December 12. Jeff red-shirted during the 2003 season, but was a 2002 All Western State Conference Honorable Mention choice. He averaged 9.0 points and 4.8 rebounds a game as a freshman.

The Cougars are currently 4-10 and preparing for their Western State Conference North Division Schedule.

Female Athlete of the Month

Staci Harris
Basketball

Our female selection for January is freshman Guard Staci Harris, who has been an impact player for the Cougars this season. She began the season as the team’s "sixth-person" and continually gave the team a boost coming off the bench. Recently she has taken on a starting role and drives the team from the opening tip off and on.

Harris is second on the team with 8.0 points and 1.8 assists per game and is third on the team with 4.0 rebounds per contest. In the Cougars’ 60-55 win over Hartnell on December 30, she tied her season-high with 14 points and distributed a team season-high five assists.

The Cougars are currently 3-10 and preparing for their Western State Conference North Division Schedule. The Cougars are 3-3 on their home court.
