Introduction Cuesta College offers a one-semester course in introductory chemistry and laboratory (Chem 10, 10L), a one-semester course in introductory bio/organic chemistry (Chem 11), and a two-semester general chemistry course (Chem 1AB, 1ABL), and also a two-semester organic chemistry course (Chem 12AB). Teaching modes include traditional lecture instruction, a laboratory section, and facilitator-assisted learning problem-solving sessions. Cuesta College features the latest in instrumentation (gas chromatograph, high performance liquid chromatograph, UV/visible spectrophotometers and FTIR spectrophotometers), and computer instrument interfacing to equip the student with the necessary knowledge and skills for further course work in chemistry and/or job preparation.
