Trombone
M.A. in Trombone, California State University, Los Angeles. Studied with Louis Maggio, Hy Lamars, David Rinehart, James Stamp, Jaroslav Cimera, John Clyman, Robert Marsteller, and Charlie Shoemake. Taught at California State University, Los Angeles and Long Beach; and Los Angeles Pierce College. Performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Inglewood Symphony, and Brentwood Symphony, among others. Also performed professionally for all of the major motion picture studios, television and record companies, jazz/dance bands, and chamber and musical theater groups in the Los Angeles area. Roy Main currently lives in the San Luis Obisop area and teaches low brass at Cuesta College, and Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. He also directs the Cal Poly Trombone Choir. He has published a trombone method book, a trombone etude study book, and two duet books for two trombones or two trumpets focusing on the use of scales and chords.
