George Stone

Recording Arts, Music Theory, Jazz Arranging and Composition, Jazz Piano, Jazz Trumpet

George Stone is the Division Chair of Performing Arts and Music at Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo, CA where he directs the popular Recording Arts area and teaches music theory, composition/arranging and applied music. Before his educational career, he worked mainly as a studio musician, private teacher and composer writing for live shows and television. He has written for and/or performed with such artists as Maynard Ferguson, David Foster, Dave Grusin, Tom Scott and Doc Severinsen. He performs regularly on trumpet and keyboard, and his works are published through Walrus Music, Warner Brothers, UNC Jazz Press and Hal Leonard publishing companies.

George has been an adjudicator, clinician and/or honor jazz band director at jazz festivals and organizations nationwide, including the University of Northern Arizona, Reno International, CSU Fresno, CSU Sacramento, Bellevue Community College, University of New Mexico, SCSBOA and San Joaquin Jazz Festivals.

He has two recordings on the Sea Breeze Jazz label including The George Stone Big Band, Piece by Piece and the newly released CD entitled George Stone and Friends Perform the Music of Stewart Dirk Fischer. He currently resides in Morro Bay, CA.
