Elaine Fournier

Theatre Appreciation, Drama Lit

Elaine has been at Cuesta since 1986, originally employed as Division Assistant in the Fine Arts Department while pursuing her theatrical career in and around the county in her free time. She completed her M.A. in English while working full time for Cuesta, and began teaching in 1998 in the Performing Arts Division.

A dancer since age 4, Elaine added choreography to her resume in her late teens, then began performing on stage with speaking roles in college. She has 40 years’ worth of acting and directing experience, ranging from the Great American Melodrama to Cuesta Drama and almost every local theatre company in the county. Add to that her work as background in films and speaking roles in training films and you will find a well-rounded mix of business and academia in her classes.

She teaches Theatre Appreciation, Film and Dramatic Literature for the Performing Arts Division and Reader’s Theatre for Emeritus College while continuing her own stage work, which includes the recent Three Tall Women for San Luis Obispo Little Theatre and last year’s The Vagina Monologues for Cuesta Drama.
