David Sprague

David Sprague has been involved with theatre for over twenty-five years. He began his theatrical experience performing in plays and musicals at Citrus Community College in Southern California in the late 1970’s. After traveling around the United States for nearly a year, David returned to Southern California and began studying theatre in earnest at the Los Angeles City College Theatre Academy. He was accepted into the technical theatre program where he focused his energies on stage carpentry and set design. After a year working behind the scenes, David turned his sights on acting and honed his skills in the acting academy for two years. After graduation, David continued perfecting his craft in private workshops and performances in various Equity Waiver productions in the Los Angeles area as well as in the southeastern United States. While studying in Los Angeles, David worked closely with renowned actress Stella Adler at the Stella Adler Studio. He then returned to college for his Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre at California Polytechnic University, Pomona where, in addition, he completed a minor in English and a teaching credential. In 1989 he began teaching Theatre and English at William S. Hart High School in the Santa Clarita Valley. During his tenure at Hart High, he returned to graduate school and earned a Masters Degree in Education from the University of La Verne. In 1996, David moved to the Central Coast where he began teaching at San Luis Obispo High School and Cuesta College. In 2000, he again set his sights on advancing his theatrical education and returned to graduate school, this time earning a Masters Degree in Theatre from Prescott College, Arizona in the spring of 2002. He continues to enjoy challenging young minds both at the high school and collegiate levels.
