Drawings: CLICK ON THUMBNAILS
"This series of drawings is done on road maps. The drawings reflect the trips I have taken during the summer for the last decade to various parts of the county to see minor league baseball stadiums and art museums, in that order. After I started the extended road trips (over 50 minor league stadiums and 35,000 miles, so far) I began to keep a daily dream journal (I continue the road trips and the dream journal to this day). Through the dream journal process, I gradually realized that inner journey and the outer journey were united by a common goal-- including many dreams about cars, baseball, and art. And, of course, women (How else get lured onto the journey?).
The specific images on the maps are "vignettes" of dreams, usually related in theme but not necessarily related on a direct, sequential basis.
Since all of the images revolve around recurring themes of journey, the erotic, baseball, landscape, etc., I am sharing these preliminary drawings with the assumption that by the Fall (when we meet) I may have the basis for putting together a more sequential and specific series of drawings, whatever term we apply to our project."-BOB PELFREY
