Email
You will need to have an e-mail account and access to the Internet. All Cuesta students have an email address that comes with their registration. You can access this account by logging onto your Course Studio Account in myCuesta. You will find the email link under the student tab. It is labeled Gmail. Your email address is typically firstname_lastname@my.cuesta.edu. If you already have an email account, I would suggest having the Cuesta email account forward the email to your preferred account. This way you will not miss any important correspondence from your instructors. Check all of your personal information to make sure it is current with correct address and phone numbers.
Textbook
We will be using two books for this class. The first contains a full training package for the course and the second contains reference material that is a great assest when you are creating your professional web designs.
If you choose to purchase a digital copy of either book, I would suggest the bible. You will need a copy of the lesson files in the training CD. Both books are very reasonably priced. You may find the following resources helpful as well:
Software
You will need a copy of the program on your home computer. As a Cuesta student you are eligible for a discount rate for various software applications. This software is available through these sources for our students. You can find the information at the following locations:
The software is available
in our campus labs on both the North County and the San Luis Obispo Campus sites.

Moodle |

This course is taught using Moodle. Students will have access to their Moodle class the Friday before the semester begins. This is a Web-based tool used to facilitate teaching an online class. This platform provides the framework for the CAOA 269 class including PowerPoint presentations, student data files, the tools to receive and send course materials, and a grade book. Using the communication tools, you can communicate using e-mail, and you can share materials and ideas with other course participants via the discussion board or in chat rooms.
Moodle is an acronym for Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment. Moodle is also a verb that describes the process of lazily meandering through something and doing things as it occurs to you to do.
The attached handout will explain the procedures for your first login to Moodle Moodle Guidelines for Students |
