Welcome to distance education at Cuesta College! My name is Marilyne Cleeves, and I will be your instructor in the upcoming online version of Adobe Acrobat Professional (CAOA 261). This letter is to inform you of some important details prior to the commencement of the this online class. Please read this page carefully!!


Class Requirements

You will need to have an e-mail account and access to the Internet. All Cuesta students have an email address that comes with their registration. You can access this account by logging onto your Course Studio Account in myCuesta. You will find the email link under the student tab. It is labeled Gmail. Your email address is typically If you already have an email account, I would suggest having the Cuesta email account forward the email to your preferred account. This way you will not miss any important correspondence from your instructors. Check all of your personal information to make sure it is current with correct address and phone numbers.


You will need to purchase your textbook for the class. The textbook "Shelly, Quasney, Jones (2011). Microsoft Excel 2010 Comprehensive. Boston: Course Technology, Cengage Learning.

You will need a copy of the program on your computer. As a Cuesta student you are eligible for a discount rate for various software applications. This software is available through these sources for our students. You can find the information at the following location:

If this is your first Journey Ed purchase, you will ned to proove you are a Cuesta student. This can be done with a copy of your registration receipt. I recommend you purchase the entire Office 2010 suite. Journey Ed is currently referring to this as the Microsoft Office University 2010 Productivity Bundle

Windows XP with Service Pack (SP3) (32-bit), Windows Vista with SP1 (32-bit or 64-bit), Windows Server 2003 with SP2 and MSXML 6.0 (32-bit Office only), Windows Server 2008 with SP2 (32-bit or 64-bit), Windows 7 (32-bit or 64-bit). Windows on Windows (WOW) (which allows installing 32-bit versions of Office 2010 on 64-bit operating systems) are supported.  



This course is taught using Moodle. Students will have access to their Moodle class the Friday before the semester begins. This is a Web-based tool used to facilitate teaching an online class. This platform provides the framework for the CAOA 269 class including PowerPoint presentations, student data files, the tools to receive and send course materials, and a grade book. Using the communication tools, you can communicate using e-mail, and you can share materials and ideas with other course participants via the discussion board or in chat rooms.

Moodle is an acronym for Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment. Moodle is also a verb that describes the process of lazily meandering through something and doing things as it occurs to you to do.
