Minimum Computer Requirements

  • You must have access to a current generation PC or MAC computer, a Cuesta College g-mail account, Office 2003 or newer WORD software, and a reliable Internet connection (Internet Service Provider (ISP).  Smart phones and net books are not adequate for this distance learning course.

  • Upgrade your computer software to the current or most recent version of Internet Explorer (IE).  Students who choose to use Fire Fox and/or Safari may have difficulty viewing some of the pages in the virtual classroom  and web links embedded in weekly homework.  Note the college currently used IE 7.0 and Office  2003.

  • To assure your computer will interface with the college technology and allow you to log in to myCuesta/myCourses  follow the instructions on the link below:  https://my.cuesta.edu/cp/home/displaylogin

  •  It is recommended that you have a back-up plan in case your provider or your   computer goes down. There are computers on campus that students can use. Most of your assignments will be emailed directly to me and/or posted as a News Article in myCuesta/myCourses.  Should you encounter an unexpected problem with your technology please contact me by phone right away, if you are concerned about meeting homework and assignment due dates.

  •  It is the student's responsibility to maintain a reliable e-mail account that interfaces with the Cuesta server.  The college currently does not offer technical support for students taking Distance Learning courses.

  • I strongly advise against using an SBC browser or America Online (AOL), Hotmail, or CompuServe as your ISP  for taking distance or distance hybrid  courses.  There are some features in this Distance Learning course that will not be available to you if you connect using AOL or Fire fox.

  • It is essential that you have intermediate computer skills to log in & navigate the virtual classroom and myCourses, to copy and paste a WORD document into an  e-mail,  participate in a Chat Room, Message board,  web navigation, and online communication to succeed in this course.  If you are unfamiliar with how a computer works or how to navigate the Internet, you don't own a computer  and/or do not know how to access e mail it is highly recommended you consider taking the Introduction to Online Courses (DIST 101) before registering for an online class.

Again welcome to HE 210 Community Health Distance Learning.  I look forward to working with you online this semester
