Special Needs:

Minimum Computer Requirements
-
You must have access to a current generation PC or MAC computer,
Cuesta College (myCuesta) g-mail account, Office 2003 or newer WORD
software, and a reliable Internet connection
(Internet Service Provider (ISP).
Smart
Phones and Net Books are not adequate for this hybrid course.
-
Upgrade your
computer software to the current or most recent version of
Internet
Explorer (IE). Students who choose to use Fire Fox and/or Safari
may have difficulty viewing some of the pages in the virtual classroom
and web links embedded in weekly homework.
-
I strongly advise against
using an SBC browser, America Online (AOL), Hotmail, or CompuServe as your ISP for taking
distance or hybrid
courses. There are some features in this Hybrid course that
will not be available to you if you connect using AOL. Students have
expressed problems with Charter DSL as well.
-
To assure your computer will interface
with the college technology and allow you to log in to my Cuesta
follow the instructions on the link:
https://my.cuesta.edu/cp/home/displaylogin
- It is recommended that you
have a back-up plan in case your provider or your computer goes down. There
are computers on campus that students can use. Most of your
weekly homework assignments will be emailed directly to me and/or posted as a News Article in myCuesta/myCourses. Should you encounter an unexpected
problem with your technology, please contact me by phone right away and
leave me a voice message, if you are concerned
about meeting homework and assignment due dates/times.
-
It is the student's
responsibility to maintain a reliable e-mail account that interfaces with
the Cuesta server. The
college currently does not offer technical support for students taking
Hybrid courses.
-
It is
essential that you have intermediate technical skill competency to compose and send
a new e-mail, create a new Office WORD document, copy and paste or
import your saved WORD document into a new e-mail, participate in a Chat Room, Message board, web navigation, and online communication to
succeed in this course.
-
It is highly recommended to
have a current virus detection program on your computer during this class.
