The topics this week are definitions of health, media literacy, Surgeon General Goals for citizens of this country, dimensions of health, race, class & health, and critical thinking.

The course objectives addressed are 13. Apply principles of critical thinking to health literature and choices as a consumer.

The course outcomes addressed are 2. Apply media literacy tools to evaluate the credibility and reliability of health literature. 4. Evaluate lifestyle changes that you have made or plan to make as a result of taking this health class.

    Health Introduction & Media Literacy    (20 points)

     Introduction: Media Literacy refers to how media message influence society and also refers to consumer savvy in being able to discern reliable and credible sources of information from sources that are attempting to promote a political view or sell a product or service.  While both facets of media literacy are important to health our focus will be on refining one's skills in locating reliable health information.
