Medical insurance is available for
all faculty members teaching half-time to full-time. Coverage is provided
by Self-Insured Schools of California (SISC). Faculty are on a composite
rate structure meaning that enrolled employees pay one price regardless of the
number of dependents. Coverage is available for spouses (or domestic
partners) and dependent children. The insurance year for SISC runs from
October 1st to September 30th, with one Open Enrollment period each year in
August/September. Insurance rates listed are the full rate price and do
not include the District's contribution of fringe money toward employee
insurance.
Full Time Faculty
Permanent full-time faculty and
full-time temporary faculty are
required to enroll in one of the SISC Blue Cross medical plans in the first 30
day of employment.
Part-Time Faculty
New part-time faculty may enroll, if
eligible, during the first 30 days of the semester or at Open Enrollment.
To be eligible, part-time faculty must have a 50% or more teaching assignment
each semester.
Part-time faculty who have
previously declined coverage may enroll during Open Enrollment, or at the
beginning of Spring Semester if they have an increase in assignment over the
previous semester.
If you are eligible and wish to
decline health coverage you must fill out a
Declination of Coverage Form.
If you lose your other health care coverage you may enroll if you notify the
Insurance Office within 30 day of the loss.
